Solar Thermal & Solar Tanks

Solar thermal panels use the sun's energy to heat water. This is fed into the hot water tank of your heating system to contribute to you heating and hot water needs.

Solar themal panels ideally require a south facing, unshaded roof for optimum performance. The panels can be mounted in two different ways. The first and easiest option is to mount the panels on top of the roof above the tiles/slates. The second option is to integrate the panels into the roof similar to Velux windows.

If mounting panels to your roof is not an option or the orientation of your roof is not ideal, they can also be installed on flat surfaces using frames.

As part of a solar thermal system, you will also require a hot water tank with an additional coil which is of a sufficient size to accept the additional heat from the panels. We supply a range of tanks which are suitable for this purpose, and can be provided as a package with a solar thermal system.

The TiSUN Pro Clean stratified tank is designed specifically for this purpose. With its unique spherical heat exchanger which sits vertically on the side of the tank, the heat generated from the solar panels rises to the top of the tank first, thus heating the tank from the top to the bottom. This allows for better stratification of the heat inside the tank and also prioritises the domestic hot water.
